Copper-nickel sheets and plates are usually 90% copper and 10% nickel, providing better corrosion resistance, especially in seawater. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of 350–550 MPa and yield strength approximately 220 MPa, which provides good strength and ductility. The material is very weldable and formable. Physically, copper-nickel alloys demonstrate excellent thermal and electrical conductivity together with low coefficients of thermal expansion to ensure dependable operation under widely varying temperatures. The alloys further have stress corrosion cracking resistance so that they will function in abusive marine and industry conditions.
